Bio

Daniel Buccieri has taught History in the LAUSD since 2003. He first taught at Mark Twain Middle School for ten years. Daniel then joined the Venice High STEMM Magnet in 2013 and taught there for 8 years. Daniel transferred to the Humanitas Magnet for Interdisciplinary Studies at Grant High School to begin the 2021 school year.

 

Daniel received his B.A. in History from University of California, Riverside, and his Master's in Education from Cal State Dominguez Hills, with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction. Daniel accomplished National Board Certification in 2009. Daniel was selected as an LAUSD Teacher of the Year for 2011. Also, in 2011, Daniel received the WAVE Education Award from the Venice Chamber of Commerce. In 2014, Daniel was honored as an Inspirational Teacher from the United Way. In 2017, Daniel was again recognized as LAUSD Teacher of the Year in addition to being recognized by LA County as a Teacher of the Year.

 

In addition to working at Venice, Daniel is also an active leader for the UCLA Writing Project. Daniel became a Writing Project Fellow in 2009, and has worked as co-director of the Writing Project Summer Invitational Institute since 2011. As part of the National Writing Project, Daniel is a frequent presenter for school, district, and conference professional development.

 

Daniel also teaches courses in the School of Education for National University and CSU Northridge. Some of the courses he has taught include Content Area Literacy and as a university supervisor for student teachers. 

 

Daniel's teaching has been featured on NBC's Education Nation and in the Los Angeles Times. His writing has appeared in various publications.

 

A book about Daniel's teaching, written by a former student, has been published in China.
